Diversity, Equity & Inclusion | www.opensesame.com | (503) 808-1286 | 5 A holistic approach to DEI starts by establishing values across the organization including trust, transparency, and accountability. Understanding that these values must permeate every aspect of how your business operates and communicates is essential, beginning on the individual level. Every employee, leader and executive needs to recognize – and regard – the organization's DEI principles and their roles and responsibilities to apply and promote them in everything they do. This can be challenging in manufacturing because of the multiple operations in place and the hybrid nature of the workforce (office, production facility and floor workers, field and support teams). Having systems in place to facilitate DEI initiatives is a must. Utilizing technology, governance practices (such as diversity councils to manage enterprise-wide efforts), and oversite tools to measure progress, make adjustments and ensure readiness to adapt to change and new challenges establish supports that make a continuous, holistic DEI vision possible.
