Review and reflections I Farewell mobile delivery? Will this be the final year on the survey for two of the origi- nal 2014 options? Over time both Curation and Mobile delivery have seen their share of the vote decline (see graph), and despite occasional rallies, they now occupy positions #14 and #15 on the table, just above 'Other', the perennial #16. Their decline has been inevitable – nothing can remain 'hot' forever – but for very different reasons. In 2014, Mobile delivery was an exciting option that prom- ised a great deal. It has since largely become business-as-usual for L&D. Today, we expect to be able to deliver content via mobile devices. Mobile delivery enables us to do an old thing – deliver content – in a new way. Curation, in contrast, is a new way of doing a new thing – collecting content from a variety of sources, putting it in context, and making it easily discoverable. This is a powerful proposition, but it suffers from two issues. First, it's not easy to do, and second, the effort to achieve it comes in addition to L&D's existing workload. Curation is powerful, but does not solve an existing issue So, will these options both be dropped in the next survey? Curation may be, but Mobile delivery will probably stay. Why? It remains a very popular choice in Africa, where it attracted 7.5% of the vote, against an average of 3.8% for all other regions, and as the survey continues to expand its reach, it's crucial to hear a wide range of opinions. Contrary Kiwis What is it with New Zealand? Probably the most idiosyncratic of nations participating in the survey once again this year delivered a series of outlier votes. The world votes for Reskilling/upskilling? New Zealand has that fourth on its table, preferring to put Coaching/mentoring at #1. Micro learning might be at #7 in the global table, but in New Zealand it's #2. And while 7.3% of the world votes for Learning analytics, only 3.8% of Kiwis do. They do things differently on the Land of the Long White Cloud.
