Engage Current Employees to Establish Community Encourage cross-func onal and cross- divisional interac ons during the onboarding phase. Too o en onboarding is overseen by one person or a small group that "moves people through the onboarding process" rather than seeing onboarding as an opportunity to foster a sense of collec ve ac on. Bringing in employees who have already been onboarded to talk about their experiences or help with certain aspects of onboarding not only creates a sense of shared purpose but also allows exis ng employees to once again feel connected to the company as a whole. 4. Develop Long-Term Onboarding Metrics If an organiza on truly wants to think strategically about onboarding, it is impera ve that the way they measure success reflects that commitment. While me-to-full-produc vity is and should remain one of the most important onboarding metrics, measuring other aspects such as diversity and inclusion, engagement, and connec ons/ communica on (done with network analyses, perhaps), are all valid ways of measuring onboarding success. The trick here is to start with the end state in mind – determine what are your business goals, and then establish metrics that e onboarding ac vi es to those business goals. For onboarding to be truly successful it should not only be an experience that is rewarding to the employee but also ul mately rewarding for the organiza on as well.
