Tip #4: Communicate early and often Check out this sample pre-launch email template: Hello [NAME], [COMPANY NAME] has teamed up with [CONTENT PROVIDER] to begin providing online training opportunities for [COMPANY NAME] employees. The goal of this program is to [STATE GOAL AND BENEFITS]. We will have approximately [# OF COURSES] added to [PROGRAM OR LMS NAME] in the coming weeks. These courses will cover areas such as [INSERT SUBJECT AREAS]. Once we have the program in place, [COMPANY NAME] will send a notice out to the group. If you have any questions or comments, please contact [NAME] at [EMAIL & PHONE]. Tip #4: Communicate early & often Promoting your program In marketing, it is a well-known rule that a customer typically engages five to seven times with a brand before they will consider purchasing. Similarly, your employees need frequent reminders about the value of online training before they will buy into your initiative. Fortunately, this communication can begin before your initiative has ever launched, ensuring your employees will already be well-versed in the benefits and value of your program when the courses become available. You can also use these same tools to relaunch your learning initiatives to inject some energy and enthusiasm into your program, either on a regular basis (annually, semi-annually, etc.) or when you notice a decline in utilization or engagement. The pre-launch email: Your first email regarding your elearning program should do the following: • State the goal of the program • Share key information about who, what and when • Explain next steps and what employees should expect in the next email • Provide a contact for questions Curbing the usage slump | 13
