Types of signage Previously we shared the idea of naming your program in way that expresses either the goals of or desired emotions for your elearning initiative. For example, if you want to promote long-term learning, you may call your program "The [Company Name Journey;" to encourage exploration, name your program "Pathfinders," etc. If you choose this approach, you will want your signage to reflect this theme. Branding signage should advertise the program's features and benefits, as opposed to individual elearning courses. Humor Let's be honest — the word "training" doesn't always bring a smile to an employee's face. No one can help smiling, however, at a silly cat picture! Using humor can help reduce anxiety around a training program as well as provide a creative way to advertise confusing or broad topics. Plus, humorous messaging is more likely to be shared among employees, increasing the reach of the messaging. Timely Marketing is all about getting the right message in front of the right person at the right time. That means designing a great email or poster is only half the battle; where and how you deliver that information is just as — if not more — important. These just-in-time learning needs are the hardest to market too, but not impossible. And don't forget about all the opportunities for digital signage in your organization! Your company intranet or other internal communication channels (Slack, Teams, or even email) are great places to share digital versions of any signage you create for the physical workplace so remote employees don't miss out on your creative messaging. Signage is a great advertising medium because the possibilities are endless: "Summer Camp" poster series advertising team-building and leadership courses; "Share the Gift of eLearning" emails encouraging employees to pass along a favorite course to colleagues around the holidays. Here is an example using humor: The right message. The right audience. The right time. Here's an example from a public library. They put together a rack of wallet- sized cards to answer frequently asked questions.
