Successful and meaningful Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs and processes take
time, commitment and continuous attention. For most organizations, becoming truly
diverse, equitable and inclusive requires change in all areas of the enterprise.
It can be a "big lift," especially for organizations that have just begun DEI
programs or are planning to begin one.
The DEI journey is also ongoing and fraught with highs
and lows. It is vitally important that organizations
support their employees throughout, recognizing
and celebrating progress both large and small.
Recognizing progress — through appreciation of teams or
individuals, rewards, awards or a specific acknowledgement
that best fits the accomplishment — reinforces the
importance of DEI efforts and demonstrates the desire
and commitment to change the culture.
Tie DEI Success to Performance
Aware that management must demonstrate their
commitment to DEI goals with accountable action,
many companies are choosing to connect the
effectiveness of their DEI initiatives with leadership
performance ratings – and ultimately their compensation.
Sharing Values – and Victories –
Brings Goals Closer
Sharing values and marking victories along the way can help
create ownership and a role for every person in the narrative of
creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable success story.
STRATEGY 7
Recognize and Celebrate Progress
Employees are
9.8x
more likely
to look forward to
work when they know
everyone will be treated
fairly, regardless of
race, gender, sexual
orientation or age.
