Themed course of the week When millions of employees transitioned to working from home — some for the first time — during the COVID-19 pandemic, remote working was top-of-mind for many of our customers. We used a newsletter-style email template to highlight courses related to working and managing remotely. Continued communication Sticking to a regular communication cadence (weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, etc.), builds trust and reinforces the value of online training. If you have a communications team, ask them to share timelines for employee communication channels (internal newsletters, company intranet, internal social media, company events, etc.) so you can make sure your training program is included in the places your learners are already going for information. Here are a few other ideas to market your initiative: Email How many times a day do you check your inbox? Whether employees are riding on the bus or standing in line at the coffee shop, checking email has become a default action and consequently, your number one weapon. Email is a simple and effective way to distribute information about your elearning program. Testimonials Share real-world examples of employees who have used your company's elearning courses to move up a role, learn a new skill, or earn a certification. For example, if your sales team recently took a series of sales training courses and then saw a higher close rate the next month, highlight that win in your company newsletter or communications. If you have a learning management system, use forums or social tools as a place to collect these testimonials. Course of the week Employees can't be expected to t be aware of all the courses you offer. Sending out a weekly or monthly highlight of courses not only keeps elearning top of mind, but also introduces courses employees may not otherwise see. Check out the next few page for an example of a newsletter OpenSesame used to highlight courses Articles Pass along articles from training publications on the benefits and effectiveness of elearning and professional development to educate management on the value your training program provides. This could be in the form of a weekly email sent just to managers with a tip on how to discuss articles with their employees. Curbing the usage slump | 15
